Daniel Holloway

I was born in 1965 in Nice, France the youngest of 4 (my father was in the Navy and my mother was from Boston). I moved around a lot as a young child, from France to Morocco then to Key West and finally to Douglasville, Georgia when my father retired. I spent my teenage years on a small family farm. At the time I didn’t care for it very much, but age and experience have opened my eyes to the beauty of life close to the source.

I’ve been married to my present wife for over 10 years, and we have between us 6 children from 6 to 26 years of age (his, hers and ours). Our household is a lively affair, now down to three youth and us. My wife home schools our 2 youngest children. I own my own catering business , and currently concentrate on managing the kitchen for an assisted living facility for about 65 people.

At Boys Rites of Passage, I manage all the food for the camp. I feel very strongly about the importance of high quality nutrition to young men, and strive to serve the boys' general and special nutritional needs.

I met Jay Zipperman about 1991, and we became very good friends. Back in 1998 he had this idea about starting boys' camp, and for a year or two we talked about it, and he finally persuaded me to handle the food. I've participated in both of the camps to date, and look forward to continuing with Jay for many years to come. Participating in Boys Rites of Passage is one of the best thing I have ever done; I get to give back to the universe, and I get so much more in return.
